Crimping Terminals and Testing the Crimp, or, How To End It The Right Way...

Crimp Terminals

Terminals are color coded according to intended wire size.
Red is for 22-18 gauge,
Blue for 16-14,
Yellow for 12-10, and
Dark Red is for 8 gauge.
Available styles are  RING,  FORK, MALE/FEMALE SPADE QUICK DISCONNECT and MALE/FEMALE BULLET QUICK DISCONNECT.
Available Stud sizes are from #6 for 18 wire terminals to 1/2" for 8 gauge terminals.
Stud sizes are shown the menu in ScrewSize/DecimalSize/MetricSize format.

It is very important to crimp the terminals with the indent on the back of the barrel, on the side opposite the seam in the barrel, to produce a solid and reliable connection.

It is also important to pull test each crimp, with at least 10 lbs of pull. (Imagine two 5lb bags of sugar...). If a crimp on 18 or larger gauge wire won't take that, it won't stand up under vibration in use.
After all, where would you rather find out about it?
